Introducing our wine & Heathcote region
Mt Pleasant Creek Estate was established in 2001
by Garo, John & Ovsanna Ipradjian and it is
a family business.
The land is 80 acres, located on Gibb Rd in Toolleen.
Mt Pleasant Creek Estate is 130 km from Melbourne
CBD, on the B.75 northern highway.
The vineyard is located opposite Mt Camel and Mt Pleasant's western side.
Mt Pleasant Creek passes through the property, which sparked the idea of naming our vineyard
Mt Pleasant Creek Estate.
We planted in 2001 Shiraz 5 different clones, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Durif,
Viognier white variety.
Total area planted is 30 acres 30,000 Vines.
Soil and Climate
Heathcote soil is about 500 million years old, which is among some of the oldest soil in
Australia.
Formed from Cambrian rocks, red Cambrian soil which has clay, granite, grey loams in it and
natural quartz crystals.
The climate is ideal for this type of wines, due to its cooler winters and dry summers to give it
that nice balance, which is needed to make top quality wine.
Management for producing quality fruit
We produce maximum 2 tonne per acre fruit, per 1000 plant, to have dense quality flavour
fruit.
The vines are irrigated by dripper system accordingly, depending on the amount
of rainfall per season.
Production is controlled by hand pruning.
Grapes are hand picked when fully ripe, so that good flavour and the sugar content is right.
Wine making
Our wine maker is Dominique Portet, one of the best wine makers in the world.
He is the 5th generation wine maker in the business.
We use 80% French oak and 20% American Oak barrels.
The wine is kept in the barrels 12 to 18 months for maturity.
After bottling the wine we use ASA No.1 corks for long-lasting aging wine.
All our wine is kept in a proper wine storage, under controlled temperature.
2009
Mt Pleasant Creek Estate wine was made in Bendigo Brits Winery.
Brits was the biggest wine making school in Australia.
Our new wine maker is Greg Dedman, he is a brilliant wine maker and also a teacher
at the Brit's
